Syrian President Affirms Eastward Focus in Meeting with Indian Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has underscored the crucial importance of orienting towards the East as a fundamental principle guiding Syrian policy.

This orientation encompasses not only economic and political relations but also aligns with the values and principles upheld by the East, with India playing a vital role as an integral part of this regional framework.

This statement was made during President al-Assad's meeting with the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan, who is currently visiting Syria, according to SANA news agency.

During the talks, President al-Assad praised the deep-rooted relations between Syria and India and commended India's unwavering positions on Arab issues, as well as its stance during the conflict in Syria and the earthquake in February.

He emphasized the importance of strong relations among Asian states to play an effective role in the new multipolar world order, highlighting that creating conflicts among countries is the only way for the West to maintain its hegemonic ambitions.

Minister Muraleedharan conveyed greetings from Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President al-Assad. He emphasized that bilateral relations continue to develop despite challenging circumstances.

The Indian Minister underscored their commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in the medical, educational, and economic sectors, for the benefit of Syrian society.
