IRGC Intelligence Forces Capture Terrorist Behind Violent Riots in Southeastern Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps intelligence forces have arrested a member of the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group, responsible for instigating violent riots and acts of violence in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan last September.

The Salman Base of the IRGC issued a statement on Thursday evening, affirming that rogue elements, terrorists, separatists, and foreign spy agency agents played a disruptive role in inciting crowds during the unrest in the provincial capital city of Zahedan, undermining unity and security in the region.

The provincial IRGC intelligence forces diligently monitored the situation, identifying key leaders and main instigators behind the riots. Among them, an individual named Ali Narouei, also known as Salahuddin, was identified and closely monitored. The forces managed to hack into his mobile phone, revealing his close collaboration with anti-Iran terrorist groups.

According to the statement, Salahuddin maintained communication with a high-profile member of the Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group named Qader during the September riots in Zahedan. Through social media platforms, he was instructed by Qader to provide firearms and live ammunition to rioters and provocateurs. Subsequently, Salahuddin illegally fled southeastern Iran and sought refuge in a hideout run by Jaish ul-Adl terrorist Taher Shiranzaei in Dalbandin city, located in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan.

Salahuddin was later transferred, along with other terrorists, to the main training camp of Jaish ul-Adl. During his time there, he underwent a six-day training program that covered the use of mechanical, electromagnetic, and remotely-controlled bombs, as well as sophisticated methods of targeted killing. Following his training, Salahuddin established connections with another Jaish ul-Adl terrorist named Zaker Sheikhzadeh, alias Mullah Omar, responsible for identifying prominent Iranian security and intelligence officials in Sistan and Baluchestan province. Salahuddin was subsequently assigned an assassination mission in Zahedan.

On April 5, Salahuddin illegally entered Iran through the border, intending to carry out acts of terror. However, the IRGC's intelligence forces promptly identified and apprehended him before he could execute any such plans.

On September 30, 2022, terrorists launched armed attacks on police stations and public places in Zahedan after congregational prayers, resulting in the deaths of 19 people and the injury of 20 others. They also set fire to a fire engine, an emergency station, and a bank, among other locations in the city. The timely intervention of security forces thwarted further rioting attempts by the perpetrators.

In a statement, the separatist terror group Jaish ul-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack. Sistan and Baluchestan province, which shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, has witnessed numerous terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security forces in recent years.

Iran's security forces have remained vigilant and successful in safeguarding border areas and foiling most terrorist plots orchestrated by foreign-backed anti-revolutionary elements across the country.
