Astarachay Bridge to Be Launched in 4 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Following an agreement made by officials from Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Astarachay Bridge on the common border will become operational within the next four months.

The heads of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in a telephone conversation on Monday evening agreed on the completion of the construction operation of infrastructures of the Astarachay Bridge and its operation within the next four months.

During the phone talk with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash emphasized the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The two sides agreed on accelerating the fulfillment of the remaining activities related to the completion of the construction operation of the Astarachay Bridge in the shortest time possible.

The Iranian and Azeri officials also agreed that the Bridge would become operational within the next four months.

The Azeri first deputy prime minister pointed to his recent visit to Astara city and lauded the unsparing and unflinching efforts made by Iran’s roads minister in holding high-profile meetings with Azeri officials on relevant issues.

In line with promoting ties and developing relations between Tehran and Baku, Mustafayev invited Bazrpash to visit the Azerbaijan Republic in the near future.

With a length of 89 meters and a width of 30 meters, the Astarachay Bridge will connect the international transit highways of the two countries (Baku-Rasht-Qazvin highways).
