Iran Climbs to 7th Place among World’s Top Steel Producers: WSA


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has moved up to seventh place among top steel producers in the world, according to the latest report by the World Steel Association (WSA).

It is estimated that the 63 member states of the association produced 161.6 million tons of crude steel in May 2023, showing a 5.1 percent decline compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

In the meantime, Iran ranked seventh among leading steel producers in the world with the production of 3.3 million tons of steel products, the report added.

This shows an 8.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Iran stood in the 7th place among the top steel producers in the world in terms of its monthly production.

The 63 member states of the World Steel Association account for more than 85 percent of the world’s total crude steel production.
