TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has traveled to Saint Petersburg to attend ceremonies marking the Day of the Russian Navy, and the Iranian Navy’s Caspian fleet has dispatched two vessels to Russia to attend naval parades.

Rear Admiral Irani arrived in St. Petersburg on Saturday to take part in the ceremonies marking the Day of the Russian Navy, which is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of July.

The naval event, which honors the sailors in units of the Russian Navy and its specialized arms, will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the meantime, the Iranian Navy’s Caspian Sea fleet has deployed two Kaman-class corvettes to Russia to take part in naval parades on the occasion of the Russian Navy Day.

The Iranian Navy commander is scheduled to hold meetings with a number of his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the event.

In July 2021, an Iranian flotilla, including Sahand destroyer and Makran forward base ship, participated in the naval parade on the occasion of Russian Navy Day in St. Petersburg.
