Russian Navy Day Celebrated with Main Naval Parade (+Video)
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Kremlin announced that 45 ships, boats, and submarines, along with approximately 3,000 servicemen, participated in this year's Main Naval Parade in honor of the Russian Navy Day.
The parade was held in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt on Sunday, with ships and auxiliary vessels taking part, according to TASS.
In addition to St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, the country's main naval holiday was celebrated in other coastal cities, including Vladivostok, Baltiysk, Severomorsk, Novorossiysk, and Kaspiysk, as well as the Syrian port of Tartous.
The naval parade in St. Petersburg was hosted by President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin press service. He took a boat around the parade lines of warships in the waters of the Gulf of Finland, the Neva River, and the Kronstadt roadstead, extending congratulations to the personnel of their crews on Navy Day.
The parade consisted of 45 ships, boats, and submarines, with about 3,000 servicemen participating. It concluded with a ceremonial march of military personnel. To mark the occasion, there will be fireworks in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt in the evening.
During the parade, the Neustrashimy frigate sailed along the Neva River, while other vessels like the Zeleny Dol corvette, the Velikie Luki submarine, and the Yunarmeets Dagestana anti-sabotage boat will also be part of the naval parade.
Navy Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of July, according to a decree by the Russian president dated May 31, 2006. The tradition of holding the Main Naval Parade on Navy Day was resumed in 2017, and it takes place on the Neva River in St. Petersburg and in the Kronshtadt roadstead. Ships and submarines from all four fleets, as well as the Caspian Flotilla, participate in the parade.
Last year, over 40 ships, boats, and submarines, along with 42 aircraft and more than 3,500 servicemen, participated in the event.
