Syrian Foreign Minister in Iran for Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Faisal Mekdad arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a series of political and economic negotiations.
Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, the top Syrian diplomat is visiting Tehran with the purpose of pursuing the implementation of the agreements between Syria and Iran previously.
Accompanied by Syria’s minister of economy and foreign trade and minister of communications and technology, Mekdad is going to focus on plans to carry out the bilateral deals signed during a visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Damascus in early May.
During the presidential visit, Raisi and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad signed a comprehensive agreement on long-term and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Syria’s ambassador to Tehran Shafiq Dayoub has announced that the Iran-Syria Joint Committee will be making efforts in its meetings to remove the obstacles to the expansion of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
