Iran, Azerbaijan, Nakhichevan Agree on Constructing Two Border Bridges

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have agreed on a plan for constructing two border bridges.

The Iranian Council for Organizing Entry and Exit Destinations recently approved the demarcation of the bridges and upgrading the road border terminal in the vicinity of the newly-constructed Aghband Bridge.

The meeting of the Working Group of the council was held on Sunday with the aim of reviewing five agendas including feasibility studies of the construction of a road border terminal in the vicinity of the Aghband Bridge.

Under the agreement inked between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, it was decided that a new border bridge will be constructed between Iran and Azerbaijan, Director General of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Amin Tarfa’ said.

“We are after holding a joint meeting with the Azerbaijani side on the customs and transport issues at this border in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he added.
