Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark, Earth Sciences Research Center Ink Cooperation MoU

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Iran’s Qeshm Global Geopark, the chair of the United National Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on coastal geological hazards, and the Earth Sciences Research Center.

Given the significance of research and technology cooperation between research centers and international organizations, the Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark and the Earth Sciences Research Center, affiliated to the Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) inked the memorandum of understanding to bolster cooperation in the field of research and technology.

The MoU was signed between Chairwoman of the Earth Sciences Research Center Razieh Lak, Director of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark Sajjad Ashgarf, Chairman of UNESCO Office in Coastal Geological Hazards Hamid Nazari, and Scientific and International Coordinator of Qeshm Island UNESCO Global Geopark.

Boosting bilateral cooperation in the field of geoparks with a focus on geological hazards, climatic changes of water and development of the civilizational area of the Iranian plateau have been cited as the main aims of the MoU.
