Iran, Serbia Eye Bartering More Agricultural Inputs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bartering agricultural inputs paves the way for increasing trade exchanges between Iran and Serbia, Iran’s minister of agriculture said, adding that a considerable portion of Iran’s phosphate fertilizer is supplied from Serbia.

Pointing to the high volume of urea production in Iran, Mohammad Ali Nikbakht said that his ministry is ready to import phosphate fertilizer from this Eastern European country in exchange for exporting urea fertilizer.

In his meeting with Vladimir Orlic, the president of the National Assembly of Serbia and accompanying delegation in Tehran, Iran’s agriculture minister stated that the two countries have established amicable relations.

“We are trying to expand relations in economic areas, especially in the agricultural sector,” he stated.

The Iranian government emphasizes the development of ties with friendly countries, he said.

“We have good experience in various agricultural fields that we can share experience with Serbia,” Nikbakht added.

Iran has a favorable situation in the field of fisheries and aquaculture given its access to the free waters in the Sea of Oman, the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea, he noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nikbakht invited Serbian investors to invest in Iran in the sectors of fishing and aquaculture farming.

The president of the National Assembly of Serbia, for his part, said that relations between the two countries have been based on mutual respect.

The two countries enjoy high potential to boost their ties in all fields, especially in the field of agriculture, Orlic added.
