Iran Ready to Build Oil Refinery, Export Technical-Engineering Services to Burkina Faso: Oil Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of oil said domestic engineers and experts are ready to build an oil refinery in Burkina Faso and also export technical and engineering services to the African country.

Javad Owji made the remarks in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso Olivia Rouamba in Tehran on Monday afternoon, adding that the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi has held expert-level meetings and negotiations with some African countries in line with enhancing ties with these states in all fields, especially in the energy sector. 

Iran has high capacities in the field of energy, the oil minister said, adding that with the cooperation of engineers and specialists of the two countries, a refinery can be built by Iran in Burkina Faso.

Earlier, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were inked between Iran and Burkina Faso and now, the two sides intend to implement provisions of the contracts and finalize the agreements inked before, Owji underlined, SHANA reported. 

Owji further pointed out that Iran's Ministry of Oil is 100% ready to provide energy services to this African country.

Burkina Faso has good mines such as gold mines, which can provide feed for Iran's mining and industrial sectors, the oil minister emphasized. 

Burkina Faso's minister of foreign affairs, for her part, said there is a favorable prospect for the cooperation between experts and engineers of the two countries to build an oil refinery in Burkina Faso in order to meet the needs of the African country's citizens in terms of the production of oil products.
