Finland Eager to Boost Ties with Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Finland Elina Maria Valtonen voiced her country’s readiness to promote cooperation with Iran in various fields.
In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Tuesday, Valtonen highlighted the long history of relations between the two nations.
She also expressed Finland’s readiness to strengthen relations with Iran, including the judicial and consular cooperation.
Pointing to the developments in Ukraine, Valtonen voiced concern about the consequences of a long drawn-out war between Russia and Ukraine.
She further expressed gratitude to Iran for assisting the process of transfer of the Afghan refugees to Finland.
For his part, Amirabdollahian welcomed the efforts to enhance relations between Tehran and Helsinki in different fields.
In the phone call, the two senior diplomats also talked about the latest developments in Afghanistan and Ukraine and the course of cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
