Iran Downs S. Arabia at 2023 FIBA U-16 Asian Championship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Saudi Arabia 106-45 in the 2023 FIBA U-16 Asian Championship in Doha, Qatar on Monday.

For Iran, Sina Mohammadi led the team in scoring with 23 points, while Amjad Abdulwahab M Ateek and Reda Almatroud scored 13 points each for Saudi Arabia.

Iran, who lost its opening match against Japan 65-62, will play Qatar in Group B on Tuesday.

The teams that advance to the Semi-Finals will also qualify for the FIBA U-17 Basketball World Cup 2024 to be held in Turkey from June 29 to July 7 next year.

Group B: Iran, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia
