Iran, Tajikistan Discuss Battle with Terrorism in Afghanistan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The presidents of Iran and Tajikistan voiced concern about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, stressing the need for closer coordination to fight against terrorism and establish stability in that country.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.
Reviewing the latest status of bilateral cooperation, the two presidents emphasized the need to improve the level of commercial and economic relations and increase interaction between Tehran and Dushanbe in international organizations.
They expressed concern about the presence and activities of terrorists in Afghanistan, calling for joint meetings between the foreign ministries of the neighboring states to increase coordination in the fight against terrorism and the establishment of stability in Afghanistan.
Raisi and Rahmon also agreed that non-interference of outsiders in regional countries is necessary and essential in creating sustainable security.
They also highlighted the capacity of the Joint Economic Commission in expanding commercial and economic interaction between Iran and Tajikistan and sharing the capacities and capabilities of the two countries.
