Iran Remains 10th Largest Steel Producer in World: WSA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran retained its position as the 10th largest steel producer in the world by producing 1.6 million tons of crude steel in August 2023, the World Steel Association (WSA) announced.

In its latest report, the association revealed that production of crude steel in the world exceeded 1.250 billion tons in the first 8th month of 2023 (January to August).

Iran produced 19.7 million tons of steel from January to August 2023, the report added.

Leading steelmakers in the world managed to produce 1,256,400,000 tons of crude steel in this period, showing an about 0.2 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period.

Some 63 major steel producers in the world produced 152.6 million tons of crude steel in August 2023, registering a 2.2 percent hike compared to the same period of last year.

Iran produced 1.6 million tons of crude steel in August 2023, showing a 24.1 percent decline compared to the same period of last year.
