Iran’s Steel Exports Up 20% in 6 Months


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s export of steel products in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 22) registered a 20 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period.

A study of the situation of steel exports in the country from March 21 to September 22, 2023, indicated that the total export of steel and steel products increased by 20 percent.

According to the statistics, the export of iron beams rose from 56,000 tons from March 21 to September 22, 2022 to 90,000 tons in the first half of the current year, showing a 60.7-percent growth.

In addition, the export of billet, bloom and slab in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year registered an 18.2 and 47.6 percent hike respectively compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

With regard to the export of sponge iron, the study showed that 876,000 tons of sponge iron were exported in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, showing a 180.1 percent growth compared to the same period of last year.

This is while 312,000 tons of sponge iron had been exported from March 21 to September 22, 2022.
