Iran’s President Contacts Regional Leaders to Avert Israeli Genocide in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – As Iran intensifies diplomatic efforts to assist the Palestinian people besieged inside Gaza, President Ebrahim Raisi held telephone conversations with a number of heads of regional states to weigh plans to compel the Zionist regime to stop the massacre of people.
In a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani on Saturday night, Raisi expressed deep concern about the inhumane actions and the killing of innocent people in Gaza, saying, “The Zionist regime is trying to avenge its defeat… on the battlefield by mass punishment and systematic crimes against defenseless and innocent civilians.”
Denouncing the Israeli regime’s decision to cut off water and electricity and prevent the delivery of fuel and food to the Gaza Strip as a clear example of war crimes against humanity, Raisi said, “What we witnessed in Gaza was the result of the accumulation of anger caused by the atrocities and crimes of the Zionists, but the leaders of the Zionist regime try to relate it to external factors.
“Removing the inhuman blockade of Gaza and preventing the ongoing genocide in this area require immediate action by all Islamic nations, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to take joint action with Iraq and all other Islamic countries in this regard,” he added.
The Iranian president also held telephone conversations with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq and with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss ways to assist the people of Gaza.
Raisi held the US and other supporters of the Zionist regime accountable for the crimes of this regime, saying the situation in Palestine is clear proof of the double standard of the Westerners in the claim of defending human rights.
The Israeli regime has been pounding the Gaza Strip for nine days. At least 2,329 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 9,700 wounded so far in the Israeli air attacks.
The Zionist regime has also expressed readiness to expand its war on Gaza with “coordinated attacks from the air, sea and land” after Hamas’s operation outside Gaza last week.
The Israeli forces have kept up the relentless bombardment of Gaza amid an order for 1.1 million residents of northern Gaza to evacuate south before a looming ground offensive.
