Iran’s Foreign Trade Tops $64 Billion in 7 Months: IRICA Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said the value of the country’s foreign trade in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 2023) reached $64.4 billion.
The country’s foreign trade registered a 6.2 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period, Mohammad Rezvanifar said.
The deputy minister of economy put the country’s total trade exchange volume at 100.4 million tons, indicating a 23.71 percent hike compared to the same period last year.
Turning to the export of non-oil goods with the crude oil, fuel oil, kerosene and luggage trade excluded, the IRICA chief said that Iran exported 79.5 million tons of goods, valued at $28.3 billion, from March 21 to September 22, 2023, showing a 29.32 percent hike in weight compared to last year’s corresponding period.
In this period, 20.9 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at $36 billion, were imported into the country, indicating a 6.21 and 12.61 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period of last year, the deputy economy minister added.
He said the petrochemicals exported from the country from March 21 to September 22, 2023 were 31 million tons, valued at $12.3 billion, showing a 26 percent hike and 12 percent decline in weight and value respectively.
China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey and India were Iran’s main target markets in this period respectively, he said, adding that Iran exported $8 billion worth of products to China.
