Worldwide Protests Call for Halt to Israeli Bombing of Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Protests are expected to be held today in numerous cities worldwide, calling for an end to the continuing Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip.

In Baghdad, Iraq, a mass gathering in support of Palestinians will start at 11:30 GMT in Tahrir Square.

Syrians and Palestinian refugees in Damascus have joined their voices to protest against the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Protests are also expected to take place in Sanaa, Yemen; Amman, Jordan; Kuwait City; and Misrata, Libya.

Turkish aid organization IHH will hold a news conference at 07:00 GMT in Istanbul as they lead a convoy to the US Incirlik Air Base in Adana, southern Turkey.

France has come under attack around the world for what many say is the attempted criminalization of public support for Palestine. Protests have been repeatedly subjected to bans, arrests, tear gas, and mass fines, but activists gathered in the capital despite the risk of political intimidation.

In London, a news conference will be held at 18:00 GMT featuring families in the UK affected by the war on Gaza. There will be a direct appeal to the UK government to take action to end the violence.

Outside the region, there will be demonstrations in Jakarta, Indonesia; Colombo, Sri Lanka; and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Meanwhile, The Republican-led US House of Representatives has passed a bill providing $14.3bn in aid to Israel, but linking it to domestic spending cuts.

Israel has continued its deadly air attacks on Gaza, as the military says it has surrounded Gaza City. At least 9,061 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
