Iran, Qatar Weigh Plans for Ceasefire in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Qatar discussed the initiatives for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the political ways to stop the Israeli regime’s brutal attacks on Palestinians.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani talked about the latest developments surrounding Palestine and the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

They strongly condemned the attacks by the Zionist regime on civilians, expressing deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing large-scale military assaults on civilians, particularly women and children.

The two diplomats also explored the political ways to end the Israeli regime's barbaric attacks, establish a ceasefire, and ensure the continuous delivery of humanitarian aids to the besieged Gaza Strip.

They further exchanged views on the proposed initiatives for a potential ceasefire, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Amirabdollahian said that due to the escalation of war against Gaza's civilian residents, the expansion of the scope of the conflict has now become inevitable.

At least 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, when Hamas fighters launched a surprise operation against Israel outside Gaza.

Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip continues as its ground forces push deeper into urban areas across the north of the enclave.

The Zionist army conducts more nightly raids across the occupied West Bank after one of the deadliest incursions since the Gaza war began.
