Pro-Gaza Demonstrators Demand End of Israeli ‘Genocide’ at APEC Summit
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – On the eve of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' summit in San Francisco, demonstrators voiced their support for Palestinians, declaring that there will be no Genocide in Gaza on Sunday.
In a visible act of dissent, demonstrators also spray-painted the words "Free Gaza" on the side of a "self-driving" car, drawing attention to their stance on the ongoing conflict.
The demonstration coincides with the anticipation of a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit scheduled for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Gaza's Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaila, expressed distressing news to the Wafa news agency. She reported that the hospital staff at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza is grappling with the daunting task of burying the remains of at least 100 people who lost their lives in recent days due to relentless Israeli bombardment of the besieged enclave.
The situation has put a severe strain on the health and well-being of the hospital workers who, in addition to their challenging responsibilities, must contend with accumulating medical waste inside the hospital complex.
The escalating tensions in the Gaza Strip have reached a critical point, with hospitals at the center of the unfolding humanitarian crisis. Recent reports from Gaza's Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaila, reveal the overwhelming challenges faced by hospital staff as they grapple with the aftermath of relentless Israeli bombardment.
Amidst these challenges, the hospital has been forced to turn away new patients, despite the ongoing influx of refugees seeking shelter. The distressing circumstances are exacerbated by reports of Israeli snipers firing at anyone near the hospital, heightening the vulnerability of those within the besieged enclave.
The gravity of the situation is underscored by the demonstration at the APEC summit, where protesters voiced their solidarity with Palestinians.
