Iran’s Export of Dairy Products Up 65%: FAO

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) highlighted a significant growth in production of grains, red meat and dairy products in Iran in 2023, saying the country’s export of dairy products has registered a 65 percent growth over the past two years.

In its latest report on “World Food Production Outlook”, the organization put the volume of grains produced in Iran in the 2023 Crop Year at 19.8 million tons, showing about a three percent hike compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

FAO had put Iran’s grain production volume in the 2022 Crop Year at 19.3 million tons.

Following the increased production of grains in Iran, import of this product to the country decreased from 16.1 million tons in 2022 to 15.6 million tons in 2023, the report added.

Regarding the wheat production in Iran in the 2023 Crop Year, the organization put it at 13.5 million tons, showing a 500,000 tons hike compared to a year earlier.

Iran had produced 13 million tons of wheat in 2022.

According to this report, Iran imported three million tons of wheat in 2023.

FAO put the total grain production volume in the country in 2023 at 12.1 million tons, showing a one million-ton growth compared to a year before.
