Iran among Top Power Plant Manufacturing Countries in World: Deputy Energy Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s deputy minister of energy for electricity and energy affairs said the Islamic Republic is among the leading countries in the field of constructing power plants in the world.
Homayoun Haeri made the comments Thursday on the sidelines of the 23rd Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE) and praised the high competency of domestic engineers and experts in building power plants while observing the requirements of international standards.
The country’s electricity industry is now self-sufficient in the distribution and transmission sectors, he emphasized.
Iran enjoys self-sufficiency of above 90 percent in the field of manufacturing power plants, the deputy energy minister further pointed out.
Haeri put the current installed electricity capacity of power plants in the country at 92,000 megawatts, 60 percent of which has been materialized by expert domestic engineers.
Giant steps have been taken at the Ministry of Energy to settle the existing problems in the field of supply of electricity, he emphasized.
The 23rd edition of the Iran International Electricity Exhibition and the first Iran Electricity Industry Tech Market Festival kicked off at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on November 14 with the participation of 480 domestic companies and 110 foreign companies, showing considerable growth compared to the previous edition.
