Transit of Products via Iran Up 28.2% in 8-Month Period: Deputy Roads Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An official at the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development said the transit of products via Iranian territory registered a 28.2 percent growth in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to November 22, 2023).
Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development for Transportation Affairs Shahriar Afandizadeh pointed to the achievements of the “Iran-Road” Initiative in the growth of transit in the country and said over nine million tons of products were transited from the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, showing a 28.2 percent hike compared to the same period last year.
He went on to say that more than one million tons of products were transited from the country from October 21 to November 22, 2023, registering a 6.84 percent growth compared to last year’s corresponding period.
More than two million tons of oil products were transited from the country between March 21 to November 22, 2023, showing a 48.7 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period, he underlined.
In this period, more than 6 million tons of non-oil products were transited from the country, registering a 20.8 percent growth compared to the same period last year, the deputy roads minister added.
Earlier, he said that his ministry has started preparation of a comprehensive plan for the development of the country’s transportation industry.
Iran’s comprehensive transportation plan is a document based on which all of the country’s short-, medium-, and long-term plans for the development of transportation infrastructure should be organized in all sub-sectors, Afandizadeh explained.
