Iran to Focus on Caspian Trade in Moscow Meeting: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is going to concentrate on plans for the promotion of economic and trade cooperation in the meeting of the Caspian states’ foreign ministers in Moscow, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in the Russian capital on Monday night, the top Iranian diplomat said, “We are focusing on the subjects that strengthen economic and trade cooperation among the Caspian Sea littoral states.”

Stressing the need for plans to enhance economic cooperation among the five Caspian countries, Amirabdollahian said he will hold bilateral talks with his counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting in Moscow.

In the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, negotiations will be held on the implementation of the agreements that the presidents of Iran and Russia have signed last year, Amirabdollahian noted.

The Iranian foreign minister said he will also raise the issue of Palestine and the Israeli regime’s crimes in the Moscow meeting.

“We will hold talks with all participants in the conference, particularly with the host, about the ways for an immediate end to the genocide and war crimes against the people of Gaza and the West Bank, opening of a humanitarian corridor for the delivery of constant humanitarian aids, and prevention of the forced displacement of people from Gaza,” he added.

Moscow is hosting a regular meeting of foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan Republic, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan on December 4 and 5 to discuss a wide range of issues related to multilateral cooperation among the five Caspian nations, particularly the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.
