Day of Mourning Declared in Iran's Sistan And Baluchestan Province After Terrorist Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In the wake of a heinous terrorist attack in Rask, Sistan and Balخuchestan, officials announced a Day of Mourning on Saturday in response to the terrorist attack that lead to martyrdom and injuries among at least 20 Iranian border guard police forces.

The declaration underscores the Iranian southeastern province's commitment to pursuing justice while expressing condolences to the affected families and honoring the fallen heroes.

Officials in a joint message expressed deep condolences on Saturday, December 16th, following the tragic events in Sistan and Balouchestan and conveyed heartfelt sorrow for the fallen "peacekeepers", revered as "the province's safeguarders of peace and security".

The joint condolence message from Mostafa Mohammadi, the representative of the Leader of Islamic Revolution in Sistan and Balouchestan and Mohammad Karami the Governor, acknowledged the sacrifice of the peacekeepers in Sistan and Balouchestan, emphasizing their role in maintaining tranquility.

It condemned the heartless terrorist attack in Rask orchestrated by groups affiliated with global arrogance, blaming the leaders of the US and Israel.

The message also declareed a day of public mourning, expressing determination to apprehend and severely punish the perpetrators.

The officials extended their condolences to affected families, praising the resilience of military, law enforcement, and security forces. Prayers were laso offered for the swift recovery of the injured and the elevated ranks of the esteemed martyrs.

This act, they emphasized, seeks to sow chaos and instability, opposing the best interests of the province's inhabitants.

In an early Friday attack on Rask County's police headquarters in Sistan and Balouchestan, Iran, 11 police officers tragically became martyrs. The assault, claimed by the militant group " Jaish al-Dhulm," resulted in injuries to several officers. Swift action from security forces stabilized the situation, restoring normalcy to the city. Seven officers sustained injuries, prompting a thorough investigation dispatched by the country's Police Chief, Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan.
