Iran Ready to Rebuild, Overhaul Oil Refineries in Nicaragua: Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s oil minister said competent Iranian companies are ready to rebuild and overhaul oil refineries in Nicaragua.

Speaking in his meeting with Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada in Managua on Monday, Javad Owji emphasized that Iranian companies have expressed their readiness to have a strong presence in the refinery projects of the Central American country.

Owji also noted that he held constructive talks with the energy minister of Nicaragua in the field of supplying fuel and oil products as well as exporting technical and engineering services.

Iran’s oil minister pointed to the high capabilities of Iranian companies for reconstructing and overhauling Nicaragua’s oil refineries and said these companies can supply relevant parts and equipment as well as export technical and engineering services to this Central American country, Mehr news agency reported. 

The two countries share the same view in terms of fighting against the Global Arrogance, Owji said.

He proposed to set up joint technical and specialized committees in line with accelerating the agreement previously inked between the two countries.

The foreign minister of Nicaragua, for his part, said that refinery projects in Nicaragua are very important and vital for the country and called for steps to be taken to hold the joint commission between the two countries and take advantage of the high expertise of the Iranian oil industry’s specialists in Nicaragua’s refinery projects.

Iran and Nicaragua have much potential to boost their ties in all fields, especially in the oil refining sector, Moncada added.
