Iran’s Import of Cellphones Hits $2 Billion in 9 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said that more than 10 million cellphone handsets, valued at $2.2 billion, were imported in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started in March 2023.

A total of 10,545,528 mobile handsets were imported into the country from March 21 to December 22, 2023 in commercial and passenger methods, Mohammad Rezvanifar stated.

The deputy minister of economy put the exact value of the mobile handsets imported into Iran at $2,237,755,000.

He noted that more than 365,000 mobile handsets, valued at over $212 million, have been brought into the country by passengers in the 9-month period.
