Iran Record Holder of Oil Output Hike in 2023 in OPEC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was the record holder of oil production increase among members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in 2023 with 330,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) rise, according to the US Department of Energy.
In its latest report, the US Department of Energy put Iran’s average daily oil production volume in 2023 at 2.870 million bpd.
According to the report, Iran’s oil production volume increased by 330,000 bpd compared to a year earlier.
This is while OPEC’s total oil production volume decreased by 630,000 barrels in 2023 compared to the year before.
OPEC’s member states totally produced 26.890 million barrels of oil per day in 2023.
They had produced 27.520 million bpd in 2022.
Despite the continuation of unilateral US sanctions imposed against Iran, the country managed to increase its oil production volume in 2023 among other OPEC member states, donya-e-eqtesad Persian Daily reported.
According to this report, seven out of 12 member states of the organization faced an oil production slump in 2023 while four of them, including Iran, registered an oil production hike last year.
Saudi Arabia was the record holder of an oil production slump in 2023.
