Explosion near Saravan Claims Lives of 9 Foreign Nationals: Iran Interior Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi revealed that nine foreign nationals were victims of Thursday’s explosion near the city of Saravan in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

"The received information indicated that 4 children, 3 women, and 2 men who were foreign nationals were killed in an explosion that occurred in a village about 3-4 kilometers from the Iran-Pakistan border," Vahidi stated, responding to a question about the attack by the Pakistani military in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

Vahidi added that more details will be released regarding the attack soon.

Condemning Pakistan's morning attack on a border village around Saravan, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, emphasized that to officially convey Iran’s protest, the Pakistani diplomatic representative in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alireza Marhamati, the Security Deputy of the Governor of Sistan and Balouchestan Province, provided a detailed account this morning, stating, "At 4:30 am today, Friday, the resonance of multiple explosions reverberated through the Saravan County area. Following thorough investigations, it was determined that Pakistan had deliberately aimed a missile at one of the border villages of Iran."
