Iraqi Resistance Group Vows Further Attacks until US Forces Expelled

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a statement on Wednesday, Kata'ib Hezbollah, a major Iraqi anti-terror group, declared its intention to continue its "painful" attacks on American forces until they are expelled from Iraq and the broader region.

The resistance group's announcement follows US military airstrikes on facilities used by the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), an umbrella group for resistance movements in Iraq.

"The United States has committed another crime by bombing the PMU headquarters," said Kata'ib Hezbollah, referring to the airstrikes in central Iraq and the Western towns of al-Qa’im and Tarbil, resulting in one death and three injuries.

The group emphasized the need for resistance fighters to escalate their retaliatory strikes beyond military bases to include US interests in Iraq and the entire region. "Iraq's resistance will keep supporting Gaza and the Israeli-occupied Palestine while conducting painful attacks on US occupation forces until they are driven out," the statement added.

Referring to the unilateral strikes, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that they were in retaliation for attacks on American bases, including the recent one on Ain al-Asad in Iraq’s western province of Anbar.

The Iraqi government condemned the US air raids, describing them as an "unacceptable act" that "blatantly violates Iraq's sovereignty" and leads to "an irresponsible escalation." A statement released by the office of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani pledged to treat these operations as acts of aggression and take necessary actions to preserve Iraqi lives and dignity.

In recent months, Iraqi resistance forces have targeted US-run military installations in both Iraq and Syria amid growing anti-US sentiments in the region. These sentiments stem from Washington’s support for Israel’s intensified atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

Despite Israel's 111-day offensive against Gaza, the Tel Aviv regime has failed to achieve its objectives. The US has been implicated in the Gaza conflict, supplying Israel with weapons and intelligence support, and blocking UN resolutions calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian territory.
