Transportation of Goods via Khaf-Herat Railway to Increase

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of Herat Railway Department in Afghanistan said transportation of goods via the Khaf-Herat Railway will witness considerable growth next year.

Speaking to reporters, Mohammad Nasim Mohammadi pointed out that the transportation of commercial goods via the Khaf-Herat Railway will increase from 300,000 tons to 500,000 tons.

The Khaf-Herat Railway has four sections, three of which have been completed and the fourth section is under construction.

This railway route is part of the East-West international transit route. It is expected to speed up the economic interactions between five countries from the easternmost part of Asia to the western part of this continent.

The 225-km Khaf-Herat Railway will facilitate the transit of goods from Afghanistan to high seas via Bandar Abbas and Chabahar ports in Iran.
