Iran Registers Highest Steel Production Growth among World’s Top 10 Steelmakers: WSA
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran registered the highest rate of crude steel production growth in January 2024 among the top 10 steelmakers in the world, according to the World Steel Association (WSA).
In its latest report, the association released the list of the world’s top 10 steel producers in January 2024.
Iran produced 2.6 million tons of crude steel in this month, registering a 39.3% growth compared to last year's January.
The country stood in the 9th place among the leading steel producers in the world, the report said.
It noted that 71 countries produced 148.1 million tons of crude steel in January, registering a 1.6 percent decline compared to January 2023.
China, India, Japan, the United States, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, Iran and Brazil were the 1st to 10th leading steel producers in the world in January 2024, respectively, IRNA reported.
The association reported that China, India and Japan produced 77.2 million, 12.5 million and 7.3 million tons of steel in this period respectively.
