Iran among Top 10 Countries in Advanced Space Technology: ICT Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world in the space industry and has attained the most sophisticated space technology in the world, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Issa Zarepour said.
He put the number of satellites launched in the country from January 2022 to March 19, 2024, at 12, saying it is equal to the total number of satellites launched by Iran over the previous 12 years.
Zarepour emphasized that Iran has much to say in space technology in the world and is currently among the top 10 countries that can manufacture satellites and launch them into orbit with homegrown satellite launchers.
Back on February 4, 2024, the ICT minister said the country’s space industry has gained significant achievements especially since the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi assumed power in August 2021.
The space industry has been fully indigenized, Zarepour said, adding that 11 satellite launches were made during the two years of the current administration in office, which is unprecedented.
Iran has high capabilities and potential to further enhance its technical know-how in space technology, he said.
