Iran-China Trade Tops $2.87 Billion in Early 2024, Showing 37% Surge: Report
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Trade exchanges between Iran and China surged by 37% in the first two months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $2.879 billion, according to a report.
China's exports to Iran showed a 45% hike, reaching $2.05 billion in January and February 2024, compared to $1.41 billion in 2023. Meanwhile, China's imports from Iran also increased by 20%, totaling $829 million in 2024, up from $688 million in 2023, as reported by IRNA citing Chinese customs data.
Experts suggest that China's actual imports from Iran could be higher, as the statistics do not include the purchase of Iranian oil by Chinese refineries.
Chinese foreign trade in the first two months of 2024 totaled $930 billion, up by 5.5% compared to the same period in 2023, with exports hitting $528 billion, while imports amounted to $402 billion.
