Italy Sees Iran as Major Player in Regional Peace
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Describing Iran as a principal contributor to peace and stability in the region, Italy’s new ambassador to Tehran outlined her country’s plans to deepen and promote relations with the Islamic Republic.
Paola Amadei met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Saturday to submit a copy of her credentials.
Hailing the historical ties between Iran and Italy as well as the rich cultures and civilizations of the two nations, she outlined her plans for the expansion of bilateral relations.
Amadei also referred to the policy of the European Union in line with the international conventions regarding the condemnation of the Zionist regime’s recent attack on the consular section of Iran’s embassy in Damascus.
The Italian envoy said her country is opposed to the escalation of tension and war in the region and supports interaction through frank dialogue.
She also highlighted the role of Iran as a leading actor in ensuring stability and security in the region.
For his part, Amirabdollahian wished Amadei success in her tenure.
Highlighting the good and growing relations between the two countries, the foreign minister noted that Iran does not consider any limits to the expansion of relations with Italy.
He expressed hope that Tehran and Rome would expand their ties in various political, economic, commercial, scientific, technological and cultural fields, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
Tehran’s policy is based on the expansion of relations with all nations, including European countries, he stated.
