Iranian Athletes Win Several Medals at 2024 World Para Athletics
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian athletes won three silver medals and one bronze at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships on Thursday.
Mahdi Olad won the silver in the Men's Discus Throw F11 Final with 42.36 meters. Gold medal went to Italian athlete Oney Tapia with 42.76 meters and Austrian Bil Marinkovic claimed the bronze with 37.82 meters.
Ali Asghar Javanmardi seized the silver in the Men's Shot Put F35 Final, throwing 16.06 meters. Uzbekistan’s Khusniddin Norbekov won the gold with 16.37 meters and the bronze medal went to Chinese athlete Xinhan Fu with 15.55 meters.
Ali Pirouj and Sajad Nikparast also won a silver and a bronze medal respectively in the Men's Javelin Throw F13 Final with a throw of 63.15 and 63.30 meters. The gold medal went to Briton Daniel Pembroke with 66.96 meters.
Held in East Asia for the first time and known as a crucial qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Kobe 2024 Para Athletics World Championships has attracted over 1,000 athletes from 100 countries and regions competing in 168 events.
