Persepolis, Esteghlal Victorious in 2023-24 IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis and Esteghlal football teams emerged victorious over their rivals at the 2023-24 Iran Professional League (IPL) on Tuesday.
Persepolis defeated Shams Azar 3-1 in Qazvin to remain top of the table. Persepolis Uzbek midfielder Oston Uronov was on target in the 19th minute but Mohammad Papi equalized the match six minutes into the second half.
Masoud Rigi score Persepolis’ second goal in the 60th minute and Shams Azar goalkeeper scored an own goal in the 90th minute.
Esteghlal also edged past Gol Gogar 1-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium thanks to Rouzbeh Cheshmi’s goal in the 45th minute.
Persepolis leads the table with 65 points, one point above Estehlal.
