Three Killed by Artillery Fire in Gaza City As Fighting Intensifies in Rafah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli artillery fire has killed three Palestinians in Gaza City, while intense fighting continues in the streets of Rafah, according to local reports and international organizations.

In the northern part of the Gaza Strip, residents of the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City have faced severe Israeli artillery bombardments, with more than five residential buildings targeted.

The central neighborhoods of Gaza City have also experienced increased shelling, with three Palestinians killed in the Remal neighborhood after a residential house was destroyed.

Israeli forces have taken control of the Philadelphi Corridor in the south, stationing troops in eastern Rafah and advancing into central areas of the district.

The United Nations' food agency describes daily life in parts of southern Gaza as "apocalyptic" following Israel's military advance into Rafah.

Tanks have been deployed in the Shaboura and Yibna refugee camps, where fierce battles between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian resistance fighters continue in the narrow streets.

According to US-based defense think tanks, Israeli forces faced intense combat during their incursion into the Jabalia refugee camp, which started on May 11 and ended with their withdrawal on Friday.

Since October 7, at least 36,284 Palestinians have been killed and 82,057 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza.
