Turkey Hails Iran’s Bid for OIC Meeting on Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan welcomed Iran’s proposal to hold an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation about the crisis in Gaza to stop the Israeli crimes against Palestinians.
In a telephone conversation with the caretaker foreign minister of Iran on Saturday, Foreign Minister Fidan stressed the need for close coordination among the Muslim nations in support of Palestine.
He also hailed Iran’s “valuable” proposal to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address the Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
The top Turkish diplomat warned that the Israeli regime has laid a siege to the Gaza Strip in order to destroy the people of Palestine.
Fidan called for the employment of all capacities to stop the Zionist regime’s genocidal crimes in Palestine.
He also highlighted the important and constructive consultations between Turkey and Iran on bilateral and regional issues.
For his part, the Iranian caretaker minister expressed hope that Iran and Turkey would hold fruitful talks on the sidelines of the next meeting of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation in Istanbul.
At least 36,379 Palestinians have been killed and 82,407 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
