Iran Urges Stronger Action by Muslim Nations against Israeli Crimes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri, during a phone call with the OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, called for more "practical and serious" measures from Muslim countries to end Israeli crimes against Palestinians.

Baqeri expressed concern over Israel's escalating crimes in Rafah, a southern city in Gaza. He praised efforts by some countries, including South Africa, for filing a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

He also commended several Latin American states for severing ties with Israel.

The Iranian top diplomat reiterated his call for an extraordinary meeting of OIC foreign ministers to pressure Israel to cease its atrocities against Palestinians.

Taha, for his part, condemned the ongoing Israeli criminal acts in Gaza and emphasized the need for practical measures to confront the regime.

The Israeli regime launched its war on October 7, 2023, following a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance groups.

Alongside the war, Israel has enforced a near-total siege on Gaza, drastically reducing the flow of food, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory.

The brutal military offensive has resulted in the deaths of at least 37,202 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured another 84,932 since the war began.
