Javad Nekounam to Remain Esteghlal Coach
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Javad Nekounam will lead the Esteghlal football team in the 2024-25 Iran Professional League (IPL) season.
The 43-year-old coach was appointed as head coach of Esteghlal in June 2023 on a three-year deal.
He failed to win a title in his first year. Under his leadership, Esteghlal was knocked out of the Hazfi Cup and finished in second place in the IPL.
Shortly after, local media reported that the Club is going to part company with Nekounam but the former captain of Iran national football team will continue his job at Esteghlal.
