Iran’s Gharibshahi Claims 2 Golds in 2024 Para Powerlifting World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian world record holder Ali Akbar Gharibshahi won two gold medals at the 2024 Para Powerlifting World Cup on Tuesday.

He finished in the first place with 240 kg in the Men's up to 107 kg.

Ilkhom Khalimov (230 kg) and Nuriddin Davlatov (229 kg) won silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Gharibshahi also won another gold medal with a total of 705 kg.

Mexican powerlifter Jose de Castillo and Emirati athlete Abdalla Al Naqbi won silver and bronze with a total of 641 kg and 593 kg, respectively.

A total of 313 athletes from 66 nations are in action aiming to improve their Paralympic rankings one last time, making it the most competitive fields ahead of the Games.

The competition kicked off on June 20 in Tbilisi, Georgia, and will run until June 26.
