Hezbollah Pledges Support for Iran’s President-Elect

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah congratulated Iranian President-Elect Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the polls, reaffirming that Hezbollah will stand by Iran which he hailed as a robust backing for resistance.

In a message on Saturday, Nasrallah congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in the Iranian presidential election.

The Hezbollah secretary general also wished the Iranian president-elect a successful term in office, hoping that Pezeshkian would achieve the aspirations of the "sacrificial and loyal" Iranian people, Al Mayadeen reported.

Hezbollah and all resistance movements in the region, "who have for many years been engaged in open confrontation with Zionist occupation forces" and the project of American hegemony, view the Islamic Republic of Iran as their axis of support, Nasrallah stated.

He said such an approach has been in place since the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, and later Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the successive governments under his guidance.

Pezeshkian, a physician-turned-politician, won the Iranian presidential runoff election on July 5 by winning 53.66% of the votes.

His new administration, the 14th one after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, will hold office for four years.
