US Devoid of Influence, Worn Down by Islamic Revolution: IRGC Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The United States began to crumble after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said, noting that Iran has sapped the US’ strength and influence.

Addressing an academic event in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad on Monday, Major General Hossein Salami said the IRGC has damped down the US’ strength.

“The US has become small and weak and has gradually lost its influence because of the friction and erosion that the Islamic Revolution has enforced on it,” the general added.

Highlighting the Iranian nation’s experience and adroitness in foiling the enemy’s plots and disclosing its miscalculations, the commander said the Iranians once again frustrated the hostile plans for a boycott of the recent presidential elections and disappointed the enemies with their turnout in the polls.

The enemies claimed that the elections in Iran are engineered and held the mistaken view that the current president-elect would never emerge victorious, but their idea was debunked, Major General Salami added.

In a message to the Union of the Islamic Students Associations in Europe and America on July 5, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the moral, political, and social failures of the West as the most important issue today.
