Iran Condemns Australia, New Zealand, Canada’s Dual Policy on Israeli Crimes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry hit back at Australia, New Zealand and Canada for their joint statement that holds double standards on the Israeli regime’s April attack on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Syria and Iran’s legitimate retaliatory response.

In a statement on Monday, Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the hypocritical approach of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada towards the air attack by the Israeli regime on the diplomatic headquarters of Iran and their deploring of Iran's move to exercise its inalienable right to legitimate self-defense against the aggressor under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

Kanaani stated that the adoption of such a duplicitous stance by some countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and their selective approach to international norms as well as their siding with the apartheid Zionist regime has not only failed in helping reduce tensions in the region, but has also encouraged the aggressor and intensifies the barbaric actions and war crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He added that the baseless accusations leveled by the prime ministers of Australia, New Zealand and Canada come at a time when by providing weapons to the Zionist regime, these countries are complicit in the war crimes of the regime against the oppressed Palestinian people.

Kanaani noted that by supporting the Zionist regime's occupation of Palestine and ignoring the historical and legitimate right of the Palestinian people to determine their own fate, these countries have undermined regional stability and security.

They also have other dark records in the region, such as direct and indirect participation in the bloody wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, the spokesman added.

Reaffirming its adherence to the principles and goals of the UN Charter and international law, the Islamic Republic of Iran will act forcefully when it comes to safeguarding its national security and preserving its legitimate interests vis- -vis any illegal use of force, he concluded.
