Iran Assistant Rezaei Heaps Praise on Inter New Signing Taremi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Assistant coach of Iran’s national football team Rahman Rezaei is happy for his compatriot Mehdi Taremi, who has recently joined Italy’s Inter Milan.

Taremi, 32, saw out his contract with Porto to sign for the Italian champions as a free agent.

The striker has been showing his credentials in the club’s pre-season friendlies, and will be looking to do likewise in official fixtures once the season kicks off.

For his part, Rezaei insists that the Nerazzurri have found themselves a leader and an excellent player in Taremi.

“Mehdi is an excellent player, a true leader,” said the former Perugia and Livorno defender in his interview with Tuttosport via FcInterNews.

“He’s capable of holding the group together, he is always close to all his teammates. In Iran, he is considered the strongest of all, together with Sardar Azmoun.

“I believe he did well to join Inter. In fact, this is a late move, as he should have arrived earlier. Never mind, he will prove himself now with the Nerazzurri,” Rezaei added.

The Iran assistant coach then talked about Taremi’s attributes, explaining how Simone Inzaghi will be able to utilize him.

“We’re talking about a player who moves a lot on the pitch. He goes forward, left, right, and even tracks back. Marking him is very difficult. Inzaghi will be able to deploy him in any position in the attack. And even as a second striker if he wants. He will certainly do very well for Inter. Taremi is technically strong and has a strong mentality. He has speed, he takes penalties well, and he knows how to free himself,” Rezaei explained.

“Inzaghi is very intelligent, tactically strong. His team usually dominates the league. The midfielders and the wingbacks push forward. This can help Taremi score many goals,” he concluded.
