Twin Israeli Attacks on Gaza Schools Kill 30 Displaced Palestinians

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces bombed two schools in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 displaced Palestinians, with 80 percent of the casualties being children, according to paramedics.

Israeli forces launched simultaneous attacks on the Hassan Salama and Nassr schools on Sunday, killing at least 30 people, most of them children, as many remain trapped under the rubble.

Witnesses described the scene at Hassan Salama and Nassr schools in Gaza City as horrific, with “torn bodies everywhere” after Israeli forces targeted the buildings housing hundreds of displaced Palestinians.

Al Jazeera’s Anas al-Sharif, who was at the scene, reported pools of blood on the floor and numerous bodies still trapped under the debris.

A young man at the scene stated, “They killed children and old people. They killed women. Only God will save us. What did the children do?”

Another witness told al-Sharif that the school was sheltering displaced Palestinians, with “torn bodies everywhere,” while a woman said, “I swear to God, only young children, older people, and girls are living here. No one else lives here.”

Abdullah Akila, a witness, told Al Jazeera that the attacks left children in pieces.

“We were just sitting down when a bomb fell here, and another hit the school next door. The two schools were housing displaced civilians and children,” he said in a video. “We have been retrieving the remains of children for the past hour. This is so unfair. How long will we remain like this? We are tired… enough!”

These attacks followed the bombing of the Hamama School in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood on Saturday.

Israeli forces have been bombarding the Gaza Strip daily since last October, killing tens of thousands and severely wounding many more.

Particularly devastating has been Israel’s targeting of Gaza’s hospitals and medical facilities, killing medics and humanitarian workers, which makes it even more difficult to provide services to Palestinians.

Vast areas of the Gaza Strip are in ruins, there is little medical care, and many are facing starvation.

At least 39,583 people have been killed and 91,398 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza.
