Iran’s Zare Aims to Win First Olympics Gold

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Freestyle wrestler Amir Hossein Zare of Iran secured his place in the final match of the 2024 Olympic Games on Friday.

He defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Aiaal Lazarev 5-0 in his first match in the 125kg weight class. Zare then beat Canadian Amar Dhesi 10-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Iranian wrestler beat Taha Akgül 2-1 in the semifinal. The Turkish wrestler had won a gold medal in the 2016 Olympics.

Zare won a bronze medal in the 2020 Olympic Games and is going to win a gold medal in Paris.
