Iran Wrestler Zare Wins Silver Medal in 2024 Olympic Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Freestyle wrestler Amir Hossein Zare of Iran won a silver medal in the 2024 Olympic Games Saturday night.

Zare suffered a shock 10-9 loss against Geno Petriashvili of Georgia in the final match of 125kg.

Zare had defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Aiaal Lazarev, Canadian Amar Dhesi and Taha Akgül of Turkey on his way to the final.

Zare won a bronze medal in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Earlier in the day, Akgül and Azerbaijan’s Giorgi Meshvildishvili had won bronze medals.
